About

Although Riverside, CA has produced many bands and hosted a number of venues, a particularly vibrant scene coalesced around a few venues in the early 2000s. University Avenue was newly bookended by Back to the Grind, a downtown coffee shop opened in 1995, and Mad Platter, a long-time area record store that relocated in 2001 from across town to a new development next to the University of California, Riverside. Blossoming out of the Riverside Underground Poetry Organization, weekly open-mic events held in the basement of Back to the Grind, a creative group embraced the city's Raincross logo for their own.
